Introducing Library Card

Sending you a steady stream of press opportunities right to your inbox.

We know how hard it is to promote yourself.
You can check this one off your list.

Library Card was born out of a simple idea to connect more interior designers with journalists looking for expert sources and great project photos. PR is all about connections, and our connections here at The Storied Group run deep. We have been working with magazine editors and freelance writers for years, and they come to us when they need great sources for their stories. Opportunities land on our desk, and if our current retainer clients aren’t a fit, there’s a big missed opportunity. We created the Library Card to connect designers like you to these incredible incoming opportunities.

Not only do these high-quality press inclusions introduce your work to writers and editors that would not have otherwise known about you, but it also helps with Google Search, AND gives you something to post about on Instagram that increases your credibility—what a relief!

Real examples of placements include this Real Simple piece, this laundry room story in the New York Times, and this Better Homes and Gardens piece on green kitchen cabinets.

We will be accepting a limited number of members to start, so don’t let someone snag your spot!

This is for you if:

  • You want to dip your toe into the PR waters without a large commitment

  • You want press while waiting on your projects to be completed and photographed.

  • You are building your interior design business and want to get PR opportunities in-between having large projects to promote

  • You see your competitors featured in the media and you want that for yourself

  • You don’t have many media connections or the time to consistently focus on pitching yourself for media opportunities

What you get and how it works.

This is not a DIY program.

The Storied Group team uses our relationships with the media to bring you press opportunities, serving as your liaison, tracking the press and sending it to you when it comes out.

Included:

  • Opportunities to give expert opinion and submit photos to the media for inclusions in round ups and trend stories. These will mostly be digital media outlets, which is really important for your SEO because they give you quality backlinks in high authority outlets.

  • Opportunities to submit individual room photos when an editor comes to us looking for something specific.

  • The Storied Group liaising with the press on your behalf + tracking and sending you the press when it comes out.

  • The Stacks: A dedicated monthly email with industry trends + resources

  • Office Hours with Molly Schoneveld (This will be 1x per month via Zoom in a small group setting) where you can ask specific questions about PR, photography, interior styling, and/or PR best practices.

Not Included:

  • Pitching you for features, profile stories, showhouses, industry panels, TV or podcasts. Opportunities we send to Library Card members are incoming press requests only. We are not actively pitching you to the media. If you are looking for that, we welcome you to check out Full Service PR.

  • Pitching your projects for home tours. We do offer a project placement service, though.

What our members are saying…

  • "Becoming a Library Card member this year has been a game changer for my business. As a relatively new interior design studio I was struggling to get the access to publications to get featured, and this bridged that gap. I was able to get featured in Homes and Gardens, Forbes, Martha Stewart and many others and it’s always such an honor and pinch me moment when I am. The team are so attentive and helpful and I’m truly so grateful I came across The Storied Group and this new initiative, and am excited for what’s in store next year!"

  • "This was a great option for our small business, as we weren't quite ready to jump into a full service commitment. It still allowed us to experience the opportunities and benefits of PR services and get our name out there, dipping our toe into the water so to speak."

FAQs

How does this differ from Full Service PR?

Library Card is for incoming expert opinion pieces and specific photo requests only. Full Service PR is our most exclusive service, where we serve as an extension of your in-house marketing team. We typically work with clients who have a number of completed projects ready to be pitched to the media or something specific to promote like a book launch, store opening or upcoming product line.

Is this the right service if I want to get a home tour for a project that hasn’t been published?

Library Card does not include pitching your projects, but take a look at A Design Well-Placed, our project placement service for interior designers. You can certainly do both!

Do the photos we submit have to be exclusive?

No, and in fact, it’s preferred if they aren’t. We will submit your photos for inclusion in round ups and trend stories when they align with an editor’s needs.

Can I still get quoted in the media without a specific photo?

Yes! More often than not, a writer or editor is looking for a quote to accompany a trend story. If you have a photo that works, we will absolutely submit it for consideration, but you do not need to have a photo to be quoted in the media.

Is there a guarantee that we will get press?

No, but so far every single member of Library Card has gotten press and we have sent out over 75 opportunities! How many you respond to is up to you. Our newsletter will give you tips on how to up your chances of having your quote be chosen by an editor.

Can I have a Library Card membership and work with another PR firm?

No. The Library Card membership is built for those who do not currently have PR. This is because we wouldn’t want to risk double pitching the same photos and having conflicts of interest.
